WAVChop 1.0
Publisher's Description:
WAVChop - Split WAV files with WAVChop, a program that lets you automatically chop up a WAV sound file into pieces where silence is detected. If you use your computer to make recordings from radio (or satellite), then this program will help you split WAV files up into manageable pieces. This program has been specially designed to split WAV files HUGE up to four gigabytes! Of course that doesn't mean it doesn't work great on smaller files too. But it does mean that you can hit the record button on your computer and hours later you will have lots of audio to quickly select your favorites from. Unlike other split WAV programs, WAVChop will not read through the whole WAV file or make unnecessary plots before it begins it's work. You can monitor the new WAV files as they are being created to verify your settings. It can take a very long time to read a 4 gigabyte file. Why read it twice? WAVChop only reads the file once as it is doing the chopping. No significant amount of memory is used during processing. WAVChop starts at the beginning and searches for silent pauses. It will split WAV files into smaller WAV files as it reads. It does not care how big the WAV file is. It splits out the WAV data into smaller files so that you can more easily find what you want. The original WAV file is not deleted or modified. List of Changes:Version 1.0 from 2003-05-22

hello!
Look, I'm Brazilian, and I don't write very well, but, anyway, what I wanna say about you software is that, unluckly, I didn't use it. The matter is that I was searching for some software that could repair or fix an audio file that I recorded some days ago. I already expected that I would not probably find it, but I wanted so much it such that I basically tried. I opened Google and searched for 'repair', 'wav', 'corrupted' and some way or another I get until you. Sorry for not helping. Congrats and good luck! Rogles Camargo. +55 11 67452729

Program will not open WAV files
Dear Sirs, I have some "WAV" files of Audio Books. I am not able to get the program to open one. I am able to open them with a program called "HIFI WAV Splitter" It will not make more than three files and it will not open large WAV files. I am not able to get your program to open a small WAV or a large WAV. Maybe you can give me some advice. The program will not even give a remark why but will not open any files. Get back to me. Roy.....

Suited my needs
I needed to chop files three minute long with 100 plus words. It did perfectly albeit with minor mistakes (cutting words in the middle of syllables, leaving files with blank silences). I only yhadto open the files and discard the wrong ones. I just don't understand whether its shareware, freeware or a demo.

Did not meet my needs
I just wanted to trim off the end of a wav file, past a certain point which I would determine by the time-length of the retained part. I couldn't figure out how to do this in WAVChop.
I eventually found some freeware that does exactly what I want.

Did not satisfy my need
I was tring to chop up a long recording I had taken from the radio. Into individual tracks if possible. Software did not detect any breaks between songs no matter how in-sentive I tried to configure it. Eventualy, at a value of 50,000 the software cored.
Perhaps my sample was not aminable, I only tryed on one sample.
Otherwise, the software was what I expected and was easy enough to use.
